Abd Shukor Bin Tokachil graduated from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) with Second Class Upper LL.B (Hons) in October 2005 and was called to the Malaysian Bar on 8 December 2006.
He started his legal career when he did his pupillage in one of the reputable and prominent legal firms in Kuala Lumpur. He was exposed largely to banking & finance with specific emphasis on debt capital market instruments and Islamic Finance. He was also exposed to banking litigation specifically on foreclosure exercise and bankruptcy proceedings.
He later joined a medium size firm where he was entrusted to handle civil litigation cases which included general litigation, commercial and corporate litigation as well as banking & finance litigation. He also rendered legal opinions to financial institutions, private corporations and statutory bodies.
EXPERIENCE
In January 2010, he founded the firm as a sole proprietor and now the firm has risen to full partnership with a total of 4 partners. Throughout the year, he has represented the clients from Magistrate Courts up to the Federal Court. Currently, he regularly appears at the High Courts and appellate Courts. He has represented the clients both individual and corporate clients as well as statutory bodies. Besides, he also constantly has been appointed by other law firms to act as counsel to represent their clients. Some of the cases he handled have been reported in the local law journals.
He is very passionate about moot and had taught Compulsory Moot subject in International Islamic University Malaysia from 2007 until 2012. He is frequently invited by public and private universities to give talk and conduct workshop on moot and to judge moot competitions. He is also experienced in coaching students for the Philip C. Jessup Moot Competition and Lawasia National Moot Competition.
Besides his busy schedule, Abd Shukor consistently involves in voluntary works. He has involved with the Bar Council, Kuala Lumpur Legal Aid Centre from 2006 until present. Throughout the period, he has held various posts including the Chairman of the Bar Council, Kuala Lumpur Legal Aid Centre. He has also represented the Bar Council for watching briefs in certain cases involving the Bar and public interest.
