Who We Are
Abd Shukor graduated from International Islamic University Malaysia in 2005 and was called to the Malaysian Bar in December 2006.
He did his pupilage in Messrs Albar & Partners where he was exposed to banking & finance with specific emphasis on debt capital market instruments and Islamic Finance. He was also exposed to banking litigation specifically on foreclosure exercise and bankruptcy proceeding.
He joined Messrs Zain Megat & Murad in November 2006 where he was entrusted to handle civil litigation which included general litigation, banking & finance litigation, commercial and corporate litigation and etc. He also rendered legal opinions to financial institutions, corporations, and statutory body such as Ambank Berhad, Lembaga Kumpulan Wang Simpanan Pekerja, Pos Malaysia Berhad, Perbadanan Nasional Berhad, Mardec Berhad, Nippon Paint (M) Berhad, etc.
Abd Shukor is also capable of drafting security documents, facilities agreement and other related documentation to retail real estate.
While he was a student, Abd Shukor represented Malaysia in the LawAsia International Moot Competition in 2005 held in Gold Coast, Australia. Due to his active involvement in moot competitions nationally and internationally, Abd Shukor has been offered to teach Compulsory Moot subject in IIUM in 2007.
He is very passionate about mooting and had been teaching Compulsory Moot subject since its inception in 2007 until he decided to focus on the firm and stopped teaching in 2011.Abd Shukor has been trusted by his clients to appear before the Federal Court by himself in his 4th year of practice and successfully argued his case.
Currently, Abd Shukor regularly appears before the High Courts and the Courts of Appeal. He is also regularly appointed by other law firm to act as counsel to argue their clients' cases. He is also frequently invited by public and private universities to give talk and conduct workshop on moot and to judge moot competitions. Due to his knowledge and experience in moot, he was appointed by the University Sains Islam Malaysia to coach its moot team for the Philip C. Jessup National Moot Competition 2013 and also the 8th Lawasia National Moot Competition 2013.
Currently, Abd Shukor is the Honorary Secretary of the Bar Council Legal Aid Centre Kuala Lumpur where he provides necessary legal advice and criminal litigation to needy clients on pro bono basis. He has also been appointed by Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia as the course moderator for moot and professional practice courses.
Ariffin graduated with honours from University Technology MARA (UiTM) in 2004.
He later did his pupilage in Messrs Rahim Hadi & Soraya Yong, under the pupilage of Mr Abdul Rahim Abd Hadi and was called to the Malaysian Bar in October, 2005.
He then joined Messrs. Rashid Zulkifli in 2007 until 2009 where he focused on Banking Litigation.
Since the beginning of his legal career, Ariffin has been trained specifically in Banking Law and is well grounded in Litigation particularly in the law of Hire Purchase, Bankruptcy, Winding Up and other related Banking matters.
Based on these experiences, Ariffin then started his own firm as a sole proprietor under the name of Messrs Arifin & Associates on 13 January 2010 before joining Hazlinda & Arifin in June 2010 as a partner where he practised both civil and criminal litigation.
Ariffin joined Messrs Shukor &; Associates as a partner effective 15 August 2011. Currently, he is concentrating in Criminal Litigation.
Khairul Bariah graduated from International Islamic University Malaysia in 2005 and was called to the Malaysian Bar in December 2006.
She did her pupilage in Messrs Albar & Partners where she was exposed to banking & finance with specific emphasis on debt capital market instruments. She was also exposed to corporate exercise where she was involved in the exercise of due diligence among others MMC Group Berhad, Scomi Group Berhad, Malaysian International Tuna Port and Kencana Petroleum Berhad.
She is also accorded with the knowledge on corporate banking where she was entrusted on drafting banking agreements for arrangers and syndicated lenders for example, syndicated loans, and bilateral loans,.
She had joined Advocate & Solicitor Disciplinary Board where she assists the Director in monitoring legal compliance for operational and administration.
She had served in various capacities in the Government of Malaysia both in the Judicial Office and the Attorney General's Chambers of Malaysia before she join Shukor & Associates.
Among the positions held by her in the Judicial Office was Senior Assistant Registrar in the Court of Appeal where she assisted the judges in civil, commercial and criminal appeals. She also served as a Magistrate (Civil Division) in Kuala Lumpur Court Complex, Jalan Duta where she adjudicated civil proceedings.
She was then transferred to the Attorney General Office and was appointed as a Deputy Public Prosecutor in the Prosecution Division. She conducted prosecutions and criminal trials in the Sessions Court, besides giving advice and instructions to enforcement agencies in relation to investigations and criminal prosecutions.
She holds a Master of Laws in Intellectual Property from Universiti Teknologi Mara.
Khairul Bariah joins Messrs Shukor & Associates as a Senior Associate on 07.08.2012. Currently, she is concentrating in conveyancing and corporate matters.
Nadiya graduated from International Islamic University Malaysia in 2011.
She thereafter did her pupilage in Messrs Rashid Zulkifli. When she was at Messrs Rashid Zulkifli, she was exposed to general litigation, banking, bankruptcy, company law and conveyancing. She was also exposed to conduct full trial and various hearings of applications.
Nadiya was also exposed to the drafting and preparing of legal opinion, cause paper of various applications and also preparation for the full trial.
During her study, Nadiya represented her University and Malaysia to the Monroe E. Price International Media Law Moot Court Competition, University of Oxford in 2009. She also represented her university in the 7th International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition, International Committee of the Red Cross in 2010.
Currently, Nadiya is specifically assisting the Managing Partner in litigation department. Nadiya is experienced in conducting trials in the Lower Courts and hearings of applications in the High Court.
